After two months in which I finished just four books, I managed to increase the pace in November. Five more books for the list:

I’ve covered a lot of Infinite Jest this month, though I’m still not sure whether I’ll finish it in October, and I’m within a hundred pages of finishing another novel. However, I’ve only finished two books this month:

The death of David Foster Wallace, who killed himself on Friday, is terribly sad news. Sad, of course, for his wife, his family and his friends. Sad too, for us, that he will never write any more of his breathtaking prose. He was 46 years old.

July’s books have taken me past 26 for the year so far. Last year I didn’t reach 26 until September and in 2006 it took until December to reach that point so I’m making progress.

Just two this month but that’s largely thanks to the two monsters I mentioned last month. I’m still working through those. Together they clock in at well over 1,000,000 words. Anyway, here’s what I read while I was taking breaks from those:
