New Radiohead album: October 10, 2007

Meta: October 01st 2007 // music

I didn’t believe it at first but W.A.S.T.E. has just taken my order so it must be true. The new Radiohead album is called In Rainbows and it’s out on October 10th.

Here’s the track listing:

15 Step
Bodysnatchers
Nude
Weird Fishes/ Arpeggi
All I Need
Faust ARP
Reckoner
House of Cards
Jigsaw Falling Into Place
Videotape

And here’s the amazing bit: the album is available as a ‘diskbox’, which includes digital download, CD, artwork and 2x vinyl for £40, or as a digital download alone for whatever you want to pay. Seriously. At least that’s what it said when I put the digital download in my basket.

I’ve ordered the diskbox.

Update - It seems the diskbox comes with a second disk not available on the download. The diskbox doesn’t ship until December 3, so everyone will have to wait for the following tracks:

MK 1
Down is the New Up
Go Slowly
MK 2
Last Flowers
Up on the Ladder
Bangers and Mash
4 Minute Warning

Oh I bet they think they’re so bloomin’ clever…

…and can I be a real geek and point out that ‘Last Flowers’ was originally written at the time of the OK Computer sessions, over a decade ago, and its title refers to a sign on the way to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford…

You know, I actually knew that. Do you think the appearance of a few old songs – Last Flowers, Nude, Reckoner, Up On The Ladder – signals a lack of inspiration or are they just using this release to clear out the cupboards?

And if it’s a clear-out does that mean lost classics such as Lift, Follow Me Around and True Love Waits (I know they’ve released a live version) have finally been abandoned?
