Last.fm getting smarter

Meta: October 31st 2006 // music

It seems like I’m mentioning SonicLiving every other post these days but I was impressed to discover that Last.fm has added a similar service in their latest update. You can now get recommended events at Last.fm based on what you listen too.

I have to admit, I like Last.fm’s interface better. All the events – recommendations, gigs you’re going to and those your friends are going to – are shown on one page and you can add notes, pictures and videos to event descriptions.
Of the other enhancements to Last.fm the one that impresses me most is the Taste-o-meter, which tells you how compatible your musical taste is with the person whose profile you’re viewing. There are some other things too – a new Flash music player and free downloads.

Altogether Last.fm is coming along very nicely.
